Glass Industry Developing Fast Environmental Protection Becoming Hot Topic
China is the largest glass manufacturing and processing country in the world. The glass industry keeps on growing steadily in the year of 2007. The total output of flat glass in the first five months standing at 214.03 million weight boxes, up 15.7% over the same period of time. The ratio of production to sale was 95.79%. The delivery value of exports amounted to 1.83465 billion yuan, up 36% over the same period. The inventory could supply up to 10 to 20 days' demand. Glass was sold at a higher price than last year which indicates a booming atmosphere of the glass industry.
All industries put the environmental protection to the top priority as the energy shortage. Energy consumption for the construction and utilization of urban buildings takes up over 30% of the total energy consumption in China. Glass is indispensable to construction and it is the construction material in the field of architecture with multiple functions. In recent years, insulating glass has been used more and more widely as an energy conservative and environment friendly product. The output of the insulating glass grows from 169,000 square meters in 1990 to over 100 million square meters in 2006. Along with 2008 Being Olympics and 2010 Shanghai World Expo, I believe energy saving and environment protecting glasses will be a new favor in the fast growing building industry.
